Internorm HS330 Aluminium/Timber Lift & Slide Doors, Farnham

Our client wanted to transform their 1950s detached home in Farnham by adding an extension and relocating their kitchen to the rear of the property. They wanted to increase the amount of light in to the room by installing a glass wall across the entire width of the new extension.

Their architect proposed two large central sliding panels which would be adjoined to fixed glazed panels.

Many options were considered but our client and their architect chose the Internorm HS330 Aluminium/Timber Lift & Slide Doors, which provide superb thermal performance without compromising on aesthetics. Despite the size and considerable weight of the glass, the high quality runners ensure the doors glide effortlessly. The Internorm doors also deliver considerably better weather resistance and u-values than typical aluminium sliding doors.

The team at Thames Valley Windows worked closely with the architect to meet the design brief. With each panel weighing around 300kg each, the installation was challenging and very labour intensive. Six men were required on site to lift the glass and special equipment was used to safely move the panels and suspend the glass while the team glazed the frames.
