Replacing old wooden windows with these stunning slimline dual-coloured uPVC windows with trickle vents has improved the energy efficiency, ventilation and natural light at this lovely detached home situated on a quiet road in the popular Thameside village of Lower Shiplake.
The Henley-On-Thames had been impressed with the double-glazed windows and doors Thames Valley Windows had installed at their neighbour’s property, to whom the neighbours recommended that they contact us for a quote.
The homeowners wanted to upgrade their home and improve its aesthetics with a more contemporary look but still have windows and doors that complement the traditional style property while reducing ongoing maintenance and enhancing the overall energy efficiency and security.
Our designer, Chris, contacted the Henley-on-Thames homeowners and listened to their home renovation requirements. He recommended an appointment to visit our Bracknell Showroom, where they would have the opportunity to view and operate the variety of uPVC windows we have on display.
At the appointment, they explored the various Halo profile options with Chris. They had the opportunity to discuss the flush sash window and a rebated sash (or lipped casement). Chris also discussed the different window frame colours, glazing and bead options.
The Henley-on-Thames homeowners decided they liked the look of the minimalist aesthetic design of the Halo flush windows finished in a dual colour of Agate grey grain on the outside and smooth white on the inside. They would be the perfect style window to complement their family home.
With the dual colour option confirmed, Chris designed a modern glazing solution of flush windows with even sightlines throughout the house, combining fixed and opening Casement windows.
Although the original windows had no trickle vents, Chris designed the replacement windows with trickle vents to comply with Part F of Building Regulations. Where feasible, all replacement windows must achieve 8000mm³ ventilation for habitable rooms, including Kitchens, and 4000mm³ for bathrooms.
The glass units in the dual-coloured uPVC windows and doors are A-rated, toughened, have a low emissivity coating and are filled with argon gas and a warm-edge spacer bar. They provide long-lasting thermal efficiency and increase the home’s overall energy performance.
These high-quality uPVC window frames have been designed with an elegant modern knife-welded joint. Whilst the authentic wood detailing of the Halo flush window frame closely resembles the traditional look of timber, unlike timber, they are incredibly durable and offer excellent thermal performance, with U-values as low as 1.4, high levels of security and have the benefit of virtually maintenance-free.
This lovely detached home in Henley-on-Thames has been transformed with new factory-finished slimline dual colour uPVC Windows, an open-in residential door for the utility, and open-out French doors for the lounge. In total, we installed twenty-six windows throughout the property. These dual-coloured window frames are incredibly durable and resistant to warping and cracking.
The finished result is spectacular; the sleek, narrow, even sightlines of the uPVC frame allow for large glass units that permit natural light to flood into the property and offer stunning views of their gardens.
A dramatic and pleasing balance is produced with the clean, modern appearance of the agate grey window frames that harmonise with the warm, earthy tones of the red bricks that add character and depth and seamlessly blend modern and traditional aesthetics.
The Henley-on-Thames homeowners are delighted with their new dual-coloured uPVC windows and doors and advised
“We were impressed with our neighbour’s new windows and as a result, contacted TVW. We had excellent and friendly service, without any pushy sales techniques. We did compare the offering with other local suppliers and found that whilst TVW might not have been the cheapest, the quality of the windows and the service was definitely of a higher standard. When it came to the fitting, the teams were helpful, efficient, neat and clean. They worked quickly and told us of any problems as soon as they arose. The lady in the office (Suzanne) kept us up to date with the transaction and was very helpful when a small problem arose with the front door manufacturer. We are happy with the result and would recommend TVW and in fact, have done so.”
They also left us a super review on Trustpilot.
We have added some fantastic before photos to our gallery to showcase the transformation.

Halo uPVC windows and doors are among our most popular window choices for Berkshire homeowners and builders due to their classic design, traditional and modern window styles, and vast range of colours and finishes.
Although Chris gave great care and attention to detail from start to finish to the replacement dual-coloured uPVC windows and doors, the entrance to the Henley-On-Thames was not forgotten in the home renovation.
The homeowners chose an Anthracite Grey timber effect front door from The English Door company to enhance the entrance and add kerb appeal to their family home.
As winter months draw nearer, the Henley-on-Thames homeowners will benefit from a quieter, warmer home with lower energy bills.
Anthracite grey windows have dominated the glazing market for the last few years. Agate grey uPVC windows are now on-trend for Berkshire, Surrey and Oxfordshire properties when replacing white windows.
