AluK 58BW Anthracite Grey Aluminium Windows and Doors have Transformed a 1950s House in Cobham into a Stunning Modern Home

Location: Cobham

A newly completed renovation and Two-Storey Side and rear Extension of a 1950s home in Cobham, Surrey, feature AluK 58BW Anthracite Grey Aluminium Windows and Doors.

The Homeowners had recently purchased the 1950s detached property on one of Cobham’s most popular residential roads. It had ‘pending’ planning permission, presenting challenges and opportunities for a comprehensive re-development.

Thames Valley Windows were chosen by an independent property development company based in London to supply a bespoke architectural aluminium glazing solution.

They had appointed an architect to help with drawings and planning applications to redevelop the 1950s property into an energy-efficient modern home suitable for 21st-century living.

The core element of the client’s brief for this 1950s home renovation project was to design a highly sustainable contemporary home with a minimal architectural glazing solution with the slimmest sightlines that will provide low maintenance, natural light, connect the inside living space with the outside and offer panoramic views across the garden.

Our architectural designer, Liam, contacted the property development company to understand their requirements. His exceptional knowledge of glazing and vision has led him to explore every possibility and design an unrivalled custom glazing solution, enabling homeowners in Cobham to live the lifestyle they love.

Recognised for his dedication to quality and attention to detail, this stunning modern home is truly breathtaking. It boasts premium architectural glazing features that provide energy efficiency and abundant light throughout the property.

Based on the property’s contemporary design, our designer, Liam, recommended the innovative AluK 58BW aluminium windows finished in RAL7016 Anthracite Grey. They provide the minimalistic modern look they require and offer advanced performance, security, and versatility. With a unique polyamide thermal break design to improve thermal performance and boast low U-values of just 1.4 Uw with double glazing and 1.2 Uw with triple glazing, ensuring energy efficiency.

AluK 58BW window system is certified under the secured by design scheme; it has integrated deep head profiles for ease of trickle ventilation, and it is tested to Pas 24

With various profiles available, you can create a bespoke solution for traditional and modern residential or commercial buildings while ensuring the best value for your investment.

Liam’s outstanding in-house architectural and design skills enabled him to collaborate with the architect and property developer to design a glazing solution that met the homeowner’s requirements. He proposed a combination of custom-made double-glazed products from various manufacturers to achieve slim profiles and consistent sightlines, resulting in a home that seamlessly integrates with the outdoor environment. This included Solarlux bifold doors, a Glass Canopy, a Flat Roof Light, and a Pirnar contemporary front door.

The minimal glazing solution transforms the detached 1950s property into a light, contemporary home that meets all the requirements of modern family living.

The 1950s home renovation has been designed with exceptional attention to detail, resulting in a finished property to the highest specifications. The home features a smooth white rendered facade, grey aluminium windows, a front door, and sliding doors, all of which enhance the overall aesthetics and add a real wow factor.
