Anthracite Grey Ecoline Tilt & Turn Windows for Contemporary New Build, Alton

Location: Alton

A prestigious, sustainable new build in Alton was constructed with high-performance anthracite grey Ecoline tilt-and-turn windows manufactured by Solarlux.

This beautiful detached property is peacefully tucked away in a lovely semi-rural location in Alton, within walking distance of the town centre.

Planning permission was initially sought to enable the demolition of the existing bungalow and the proposal for a substantial country home.

The brief was to replace the existing bungalow with an energy-efficient contemporary family home suitable for 21st-century living. The extensive use of glass throughout was fundamental to this property’s design, allowing ample natural light to flow and greater transparency through the building.

This stunning bespoke contemporary detached property has been designed to the highest specifications by Tierney Architects and purpose-built by Murnells, a London-based construction company.

When the Alton homeowners contacted us with their architect’s drawings, we learned that the build was ongoing, but the window openings were ready for survey. They were looking for one glazing company to provide all the windows and doors for their family home.

Part of the homeowner’s brief was to have double-glazed powder-coated aluminium windows, and doors finished in RAL7016 anthracite grey to complement the traditional red bricks and grey slate-hipped roof.

Our designer, Luke, collaborated closely with the homeowners, architects, and builders to utilise his expertise and innovative glazing knowledge. He ensured the team designed, supplied, and installed all tilt-and-turn windows and doors according to the builder’s schedule.

Luke arranged for the Alton clients to visit our Bracknell Showroom, view and operate the range of aluminium windows and doors on display, and discuss the options suitable for a low-maintenance new-build property focusing on traditional materials and energy efficiency.

Considering the detached property’s contemporary aesthetic, our designer, Luke, recommended installing Solarlux Ecoline Tilt and Turn Windows and Air 500 Lift and Slide doors. These products, known for their clean lines and minimalist aesthetic, perfectly fit the property’s modern design.

‍All the tilt-and-turn and fixed windows throughout the house are durable, powder-coated aluminium. They have insulated double-glazed Climaguard glass units with a soft-coat Low E Glass finish, filled with argon gas, and a black spacer bar to provide exceptional thermal efficiency and maintain a comfortable temperature all year round.

The low-maintenance aluminium window frame is finished in powder-coated RAL7016 anthracite grey. The stainless steel window handles enhance the tilt and turn windows and provide a stylish finish.

Ecoline tilt-and-turn windows have a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K, lower than the UK building regulations.

Inspired by European design, aluminium tilt-and-turn windows are popular for contemporary construction and renovation projects. They offer a distinctive combination of style, durability, and versatility.

Tilt-and-turn windows offer superior ventilation and high security for your property. They are particularly beneficial for windows located at higher levels, as they can be cleaned from the inside, eliminating the need for ladders.

Operating a tilt-and-turn window is easy with a single-window handle that moves into three positions: tilt, open fully inwards, or close.

You can incline the window inward from its base, creating a small opening at the top for air circulation. Alternatively, the window can be fully open in the style of a casement window but towards the inside. As an added benefit, they can also serve as an emergency exit, making your home safer.

Tilt-and-turn windows can be larger than casement windows in both opening and fixed styles.

Tilt-and-turn doors feature a specialised hinge system that hinges from the side and provides two inward-opening functions. They open inwards to provide access to a patio or balcony and tilt inwards for flexible ventilation.

The sleek and slim profiles of aluminium frames offer larger glass areas that allow for maximum natural light, provide unobstructed views, and create a harmonious union between inside and outside.

As part of this new-build project, we installed Air 500 lift-and-slide doors and a Pirnar front door at the Alton property.

The house interior is exceptionally decorated with stunning hardwood flooring, beautiful, luxurious furniture, and fixtures. The anthracite grey windows and doors add an air of luxury and blend perfectly with the neutral interior décor.

The Alton homeowners are delighted with their new windows and doors and advised
