This beautiful character cottage in the much-sought-after village of Yateley has been lovingly restored with timber alternative Tudor windows, which have sympathetically replicated the house’s original style.
The original single-glazed black steel windows had stood the test of time in this Yateley character cottage. Over the last few years, they had warped, so they were difficult to open and become draughty and not energy efficient.
The homeowners knew they wanted to restore the character cottage with modern energy-efficient windows that were aesthetically sympathetic to the period features of the character cottage.
This client had previously bought timber alternative Tudor windows and French doors from Thames Valley Windows in 2014. They had no hesitation in contacting Thames Valley Windows for a free no, obligation quote when they decided to replace some more windows in their lovely character cottage in Yateley, Hampshire.
Our designer Luke contacted the Yateley homeowners to discuss their home renovation project and to understand their requirements. Due to the age and style of the cottage, Luke recommended several window styles to best complement the property’s aesthetics on all elevations.
Luke recommended an architectural glazing solution with a mixture of Timber, uPVC, and timber alternative windows.

The timber alternative Tudor windows are finished with a Tudor wood black-grain frame with white wood-grain casements on the exterior and interior.
The selected black wrought iron handles with monkey tails and traditional peg stays for an authentic timber-like appearance.
They selected elegant yet secure Upvc sliding sash windows with authentic Georgian bars with a white woodgrain finish for the back of the house.
