Location: Oxshott
The beautiful agate grey Heritage bifold doors we recently installed into a luxurious detached property in Oxshott were part of a large-scale glazing solution throughout the house.
Situated on one of Weybridge’s most desirable private residential roads in the prestigious Crown Estate in Oxshott. The homeowners wanted to replace approximately 50 existing wooden windows and doors and modernise their 25-year-old family home with a contemporary glazing solution that offers modern energy performance to bring it into the 21st century.
The homeowners were very focused on the type of glazing solution they required. They contacted Thames Valley Windows after seeing one of our high-quality window and door installation at a local property near to their house.
After a visit to our Bracknell showroom, the homeowners were impressed by the superior quality of the Solarlux range of windows and doors. They finally opted for the Solarlux Ecoline system. It provided exactly what they wanted, from aesthetic appearance to thermal performance and high security. It also delivered their vision of clean, slim sightlines for a modern finish to this home.
Solarlux aluminium doors and windows are beautiful and aesthetically pleasing they are also energy efficient and offer high performance. All products use Soft coat Low E glass with argon gas-filled glazing, which benefits from energy savings such as solar gain to reduce heat loss in winter and heat gain in the Summer, which creates a sustainable and comfortable living environment within the home.
The Ecoline bifold door system achieves a low u-value of 1.1 W/m²K – offering one of the lowest available for a bi-folding door, whilst the powder-coated aluminium framing provides minimal maintenance.
Our designer Ray Money worked closely with the Oxshott homeowners to design a contemporary solution of windows, doors, and FSG to meet their project and personal needs.
For the front of the property, he recommended a combination of Solarlux Ecoline fixed and tilt and turn aluminium windows. Ecoline bifold doors with glazing bars and matching window styles to the rear of the property are all finished in contemporary Agate grey (RAL7038) on the exterior and Traffic white (RAL9016) on the interior.
As part of our architectural design service, Ray created full-colour 3D visuals of the proposed window and door designs in various shades of grey, allowing the Oxshott homeowners to visualise the outcome.
The design and engineering expertise of Solarlux products, paired with Ray’s exceptional vision skills and experience, enabled him to recommend some of the architectural glazing features and the proportions of some of the double glazed windows.
The main architectural glazing feature is at the front of the property with a large curtain walling window system, which illuminates the hallway with natural light and creates a stunning grand entrance.
Heritage bifold doors at the rear of the dining room and lounge offer floor-to-ceiling glazing. Whether open or closed, the thin glazing bars still allow natural light to cascade through the glazing and flow through the open-plan living spaces. When opened, the doors can be stacked back to the side, creating an unobstructed opening that brings the outside in and enhances the feeling of space.
A rebated threshold was chosen so that the floor track is flush with the internal wooden floor with a slight step down onto the patio area of the garden, offering a fully weathered system with a high-performance weather rating.
The master bedroom also features the Heritage Bi-fold doors that open onto a balcony with glass balustrades, enabling the Oxshott homeowners to enjoy the panoramic countryside view.
The agate grey aluminium windows and doors and matching fascia and soffits contrast perfectly against the white render and add definition and depth to enhance the contemporary aesthetic of the detached property.
The house interior is decorated exceptionally high with stunning hardwood flooring, and beautiful luxurious furniture, and fixtures. The Heritage windows and doors add an air of opulence throughout and blend perfectly with the interior décor.
We love this family home and are proud to have been involved in its overall refurbishment with numerous architectural glazing features to maximise natural light.
Heritage internal and external doors are so on-trend at the moment for the art deco or Industrial look. Our range of Aluminium Heritage doors is a great alternative to steel-framed patio doors. We can also add glazing bars to French doors and sliding door systems.
