Location: Wandsworth
Natural light is abundant in this stunning flat roof wrap around extension in Wandsworth, London where we installed two frameless rooflights and minimally framed three-panel sliding doors.
This beautiful Victorian terraced house is situated in a sought-after tree-lined street located close to Wandsworth Common.
The homeowners had lived in the terrace property for a few years. Still, with a young family, the existing layout was no longer compatible with the demands of modern family living.
Our design director Ryan Schofield worked closely with the architect, contractor, and Wandsworth homeowners for their home renovation project to design, supply and install an architectural aluminium glazing solution of Vision20 sliding doors, frameless rooflights and Air-Mod aluminium tilt and turn window to the rear of the property.
The home renovation project involved removing an existing two-storey extension and constructing a large flat roof wrap around extension to create a bright and open plan family-friendly kitchen with a dining area and a relaxed living space.
Part of the homeowners brief was to incorporate as much glass as possible within the new side and rear extension with minimalist aesthetics and easy functionality for the sliding patio doors.
The Vision20 is a visually impressive floor to ceiling sliding door system. It was chosen for the large glazed areas it offers with a virtually frameless profile with the option of fully recessing the outer frame into the wall cavity, offering a dynamic and contemporary all-glass appearance.
These highly engineered door panels are especially suited for wide apertures with maximum sizes of up to 2.5m in width and 3m in height. Easy to operate and designed with a quiet and effortless sliding technology.
As some of the external outer frames are visible, the Wandsworth homeowners chose the contemporary anthracite grey finish for the Vision20 doors to blend with the iconic London yellow stock brickwork of the property and add a distinctive and modern style aesthetic of the new extension.
Internally the frame has been completely concealed by plasterboard, which creates an impressive glass wall with only two narrow 20mm sightlines, offering unobstructed views of the garden and ensure optimum light fills the space.
The Vision20 sliding doors run the entire extension width and have been designed so that all the panels move with the option to slide two panels to the side or middle, instantly creating an opening to connect the inside & outside space.
The flat roof boasts two frameless glass rooflights, which have been expertly positioned to provide a great source of natural light. One sits between the kitchen and library, whilst the other is situated next to the sliding doors above the sofa in the living space providing ample stargazing opportunities at night. The internal minimal look creates a stunning architectural feature to the room.
The contemporary, minimalist design of the roof lights is in keeping with this modern single-storey extension and is a popular choice for terraced properties.
Our design-led glazing solution for the wrap-around extension has transformed this Victorian terrace house into a stunning and spacious family home, using plentiful natural light through the frameless rooflights and large sliding doors that also allow a seamless transition into the garden.
The wrap-around extension has been finished to the highest specification. This contemporary home is given a real wow factor by the spectacular virtually frameless Vidsion20 sliding doors, creating a glass wall at the rear of the house.
An immaculately completed side return extension that has been finished to a high specification with the finest attention-to-detail
The contemporary glass wall complements the stunning interior décor, an elegant combination of modern and industrial chic furniture and fittings.
