Location: Windsor
This Georgian front door with stained glass windows that we recently installed has enhanced the arched porch and restored the authentic period appearance of this beautiful semi-detached property located on a highly sought cul-de-sac close to Windsor Town Centre.
The Windsor homeowners had lived in the property for many years. They decided it was time to replace the existing 20-year-old double-glazed windows and doors to increase their home’s security and thermal efficiency.
After many hours of searching the internet for double-glazed windows and doors, a friend recommended Thames Valley Windows. Hence, they visited our website, downloaded a few brochures , and decided to contact us for a free no, obligation quote.
Our designer Chris contacted the Windsor homeowners listened to their home renovation plans and requirements and recommended an appointment at our Bracknell showroom to show them the many different options on display.
Chris discussed the various energy-efficient double-glazed uPVC Windows and available front door options. After viewing all the front doors, the owners narrowed their choice to a replacement Evolution Stormproof timber alternative front door or wooden door.
After careful consideration, the Windsor Homeowners decided on the impressive, period-inspired Nash door design from The English Door Company to add a little charm of the bygone days to the entrance of their home.
The timber alternative front door is finished in ‘Olive grey’ on the exterior and white on the interior to provide a clean ambience, keep the hallway light and bright, and complement the contemporary décor.
Completing the Georgian era’s overall aesthetic and charm, the timber alternative front door and stained glass side windows are designed with mechanical joints, and the homeowners choose traditional antique black furniture, including a doctors door knocker, a discreet security spy hole, and architectural letter plate that contrasts perfectly with the olive-grey paintwork.
The classic Doctor’s Door Knocker is a timeless design, originating in the early Georgian period. It was named the doctor’s knocker as it was a way for people to identify the doctor in their village, and a noisy design meant doctors could be disturbed for emergencies during the day or night.
Olive grey, also known as ‘French Grey’, is a rich, warm, neutral colour popular for heritage properties. The subtle blend of green with hints of grey and earthy tones of brown offers a harmonious combination of bold and calmness.
The English Door Company have built a reputation based on innovative design, leading-edge technology, unsurpassed hand-crafted joinery craftsmanship and uncompromising performance.
Longevity, security, strength, thermal insulation and quality are at the heart of every English front door. They are undoubtedly one of the best timber alternative front doors on the market,
The timber alternative entrance doors emulate the richness and depth of the wood and combine all the strength of traditional timber doors, yet with superb insulation, advanced draught-proofing and weather-proofing that offers minimal maintenance whilst retaining a modern take on a classic look.
Additional protection and security are gained through the hinges and high-security multi-point locking systems, with shoot bolts as standard at the top and bottom of the door.
The popular five-panel Nash front door is beautifully proportioned, replicating a classic Georgian door. It is perfect for taller doorways and brings a natural touch of grandeur.
The transformation of this Windsor property is spectacular. The Olive grey Georgian front door and decorative stained glass windows are set within a beautiful red brick arched porch, creating a stunning entrance with architectural details and a warm welcome.
The Windsor homeowners are delighted with their new Georgian front door and windows and advised:
We were recommended to TVW by a friend, and we liked the fact that it is a local firm whose showroom we could visit. The house is warmer, with less dust than the old windows.
As soon as the front door was installed, we immediately noticed the difference in the hall with the lack of drafts. We are very pleased with the appearance and set-up of the front door and the side windows. We are glad of the better security of these fittings.
We were glad of Chris’s help in getting us to what we wanted, and the installers were efficient and pleasant.
