This stunning, high-performance oak front door and frame with leaded glass side panel from Apeer traditional composite door range has enhanced the entrance to this beautiful detached property in Goring.
The Goring property is situated in a private residential road within the quiet heart of this quintessentially English village near The River Thames in Berkshire.
The homeowners contacted Thames Valley Windows during the COVID pandemic when the UK was in a lockdown requesting a quote for replacement timber windows and doors.
Our architectural glazing designer Liam Griffin contacted the Goring homeowners and arranged an appointment at our Bracknell showroom to discuss the different options available for their replacement windows and doors.
Having chosen our range of bespoke and made to measure Halo flush casement windows with a Georgian bar, we were also asked to design a bespoke front door with high-performing security and safety features.
Part of the homeowner’s brief was for a classic oak door that looks sophisticated but lets in some light as the glass in the side panel and the front door are the only source of natural light into the hall. Also, an exterior door that brightens up that whole entrance from the outside and complements the stunning detached property’s external features.
Liam had detailed discussions with the homeowners to understand their style fully. He then talked through his recommended front door designs with the homeowners, ensuring he reached their expectations and requirements perfectly. He provided quotes for a traditional front door from Evolution English Door Company and Apeer 70.
The clients decided on a dual colour Dunlace Composite door from Apeer finished in Oak on the exterior with leaded glazing within four panes and side panel that would compliment the traditional mixed red brickwork. Inside the entrance door is finished in white to complement the interior decor.
Liam recommended an antique black ring knocker and handle to add to the traditional premium finish and more authentic timber look of the door. He also suggested having the external door frame the matching colour as the door panel. This is a consistent design feature you see with a timber entrance door set.
Not all composite doors can achieve this feature. You will see a white outer frame when you typically see a uPVC or composite entrance door. A fully bespoke feature to Apeer composite doors,
As part of this home renovation project, we also installed Halo flush windows with a wood grain finish to the family home and garage and Evolution timber alternative French doors to the Goring property.
Given that security was a priority for the Goring homeowners, we were able to meet requirements with a durable and energy-efficient Apeer composite door.
PAS24 Secured by Design. Fitted as standard: triple glazed, double rebated, anti-pick, anti-bump, anti-drill and anti-snap cylinder lock barrels
We were able to match our client’s vision and door design thanks to the wide range of traditional, contemporary or modern door designs from Apeer. Timeless and elegant styles are available as either single or double exterior doors in various colours and finishes.
Every Apeer entrance door is manufactured to the highest standard with exceptional craftsmanship and an authentic timber wood grain finish that emulates the appearance of timber.
The homeowners are delighted with their new double glazed windows and oak front door and frame and advised:
We chose Thames Valley Windows as the website was very appealing. I loved the showcasing of different styles, which was extremely beneficial in the middle of the pandemic. It was the only website that showed the leaded windows that I originally wanted; in a house similar to ours!
The customer service at the showroom was also excellent; the patience and diligence demonstrated by the sales team while I considered all the options were outstanding. I’m sure I was the least favourite customer for several weeks!
The team who came to fit the windows in a freezing cold week in January were amazing. Polite, respectful and efficient, with almost no mess whatsoever. The end result is lovely and well worth all the effort. The house’s appearance has been enhanced, especially internally, which we think looks far more elegant. As well as the enhanced efficiency, we have been surprised at the level of noise reduction we have also experienced.
A total renovation of this beautiful large family house both internally and externally, the double glazed windows and triple glazed oak front door and frame bring the property into the modern 21st century for energy efficiency and security with the overall appearance transformed with a contemporary architectural glazing solution from Thames Valley Windows from design to installation.
The result is stunning. The two traditional external oak doors on the front and side elevation perfectly blend the rural traditionalism features of the property to create a genuinely spectacular focal point to the family home.
The leaded glazed panels within the doors allow natural light to flow into the home and through the hallway.
The property is beautifully situated surrounded by mature gardens. The new double glazed windows and doors allow more natural light into the home and offer wonderful views of the rural woodland surroundings.
