Orangery with Solarlux Bi-Fold Doors, Crowthorne

Our clients were keen to extend their lovely home in Crowthrone. They wanted to create a large kitchen/family room with floor-to-ceiling glass.

Our Designer wanted to ensure that whatever was added, didn’t look like an ugly box plonked on the back, as so many large Orangeries do. We came up with a stepped front initially with a square contemporary fascia, but it looked too harsh. We eventually decided on a traditional timber fascia with cornice and mouldings.

Our Architectural Design Service enabled our client to visualise their new Orangery and the space it would create.

The end result is a superb combination of contemporary and traditional styling that perfectly compliments this Victorian home, and provides the most amazing kitchen and living room space!

The Solarlux SL 60e bi-fold doors, the hardwood fascia and cornice are all finished in Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016) and contrast beautifully with the cottage-style property.

The roof lantern features two motorised roof vents and active neutral self-cleaning glass.

This family of five love their new Orangery. They said ‘Despite its size and the amount of glass, the Orangery is very warm, especially with our lovely log burner. In the winter, we have the benefit of lots of daylight without letting the cold in. In Summer, having the doors wide open gives a great connection with the outdoors. It rarely gets too hot in the Summer and on those very warm days, opening the doors right back sorts that out. We spend most of our day in our new space. Having the kitchen area, table and seating area means that they can be together, even when doing different things.’
