An intensive redesign, incorporating high performance aluminium/timber composite bi-folding doors, a tilt and turn door and a breath-taking aluminium lantern roof, have turned a 1950s semi-detached property into a stunning, contemporary home.
Our client embarked on an ambitious project to extend to the rear of their property and create a spacious living area to the ground floor with a luxurious bedroom above. With a desire to flood the rear of their home with natural light, the family decided to install two sets of bi-folding doors and a lantern roof. The family wanted to invest in aluminium composite doors which would complement the warmth of their natural hardwood floor and were immediately drawn to the Solarlux SL67 range. The doors are solid timber with aluminium cladding, making them far more stable than many other composite systems.
The Solarlux SL67 composite bi-folding doors incorporate a flush floor track to allow seamless access to the garden. The exterior of the doors are finished in sleek aluminium in a DB703 grey colour, whilst the interior is spruce timber in a clear finish to echo the warm tones of the floor and furniture.
The welcoming, sociable space was given extra impact with a lantern roof which features active glazing to provide good thermal performance. For comfort and convenience, the specification included anti-sun protection and a self-cleaning feature on the glass.
The bedroom above was enhanced with a Solarlux SL67 aluminium/timber fixed frame and a tilt and turn opening door in a matching grey colour.
