Nestled within tranquil grounds, this cottage was full of period character. The owners were however in need of more modern family living space but had faced challenges in getting their architect’s designs approved with the local authority. After lengthy discussions, the client finally settled on a stunning modern-style barn conversion, clad in oak.

The client was keen to maximize the amount of daylight in the extension and, having discussed the options with their architect, they were convinced that the contemporary and low maintenance Solarlux SL 60e Bi-Folding Doors and double height SL 60e fixed frames would be perfect.

Durable and high performance, the matt black aluminium and extensive glazing contrasts beautifully with the exposed roof trusses on the inside and the oak cladding on the outside of the building. The expanse of glass has maximised the flow of light into the rear of the property and blended the new extension with the large family garden.

The installation was completed with weathered aluminium tracks, which connect with the raised steps leading to the garden outside.
