Location: Corsham
Triple glazed timber aluminium composite windows for a single storey new build home set in an elevated rural position, with panoramic views of Box Valley countryside.
The Corsham homeowners purchased the land and were granted planning permission. To demolish the existing 1960’s bungalow and build a sustainable, low-energy single storey new-build, with thermally efficient timber aluminium composite windows and external cladding in naturally durable timber.
Designed by CaSA Architects and built by Emery Brothers Ltd, energy efficiency was a vital element of the homeowner’s design brief.
Having worked with Thames Valley Windows on previous architectural glazing projects, CaSA’s team recommended us to their clients.
Our MD and designer, Ryan Schofield, arranged an appointment at our Bracknell showroom with the Corsham homeowners.
Ryan listened to their requirements and looked at the architectural elevations and drawings. He recommended an architectural glazing system from Internorm studio range that would meet the essential elements to make their new build sustainable.
They selected the HF310 timber aluminium composite windows for the combination of exceptional acoustic performance, superior thermal insulation, and an excellent U-value of just 0.6 W/m2k.
The insulating thermal foam between the timber frame and the external aluminium profile significantly increases the performance of the timber composite windows
The timber is slow grown from sustainable forests and only the best knot-free timbers are selected.
The homeowners opted for a combination of composite aluminium tilt & turn and fixed windows and chose the popular powder-coated aluminium RAL 7016 anthracite grey for the exterior and soothing spruce (FI510) with a clear lacquer interior to add a touch of natural elegance and character to the property.
Internorm HF310 timber aluminium composite windows are the obvious choice for a contemporary new build. Triple glazed as standard, offering an 85mm construction depth, allowing a minimal step between exterior glass and frame to provide a stylish square-edged flush sash finish with no visible hardware for maximum light and simple, elegant lines.
A triple gasket system and the aluminium clad on the exterior will preserve the timber from exposure to weathering and provide excellent protection against the harsh elements during the autumn and winter months.
The innovative I-tec glazing provides an around bonding of the glass pane ensures exceptional stability and security protection.
Thames Valley Windows team worked with the builder to ensure the installation of windows and doors ran to the building schedule.
Due to the location, access to the Corsham property was limited; lifting machinery was required because of the weight of the frames and glazing and some of which weighed more than 450kg.
This sustainable new build home has been designed and finished to the highest specification, and it blends in within the countryside surroundings with its stunning natural details and textures.
The triple-glazed windows and doors combined with its broken plan living space create a fresh and bright aura, minimise energy usage, and make a light-filled home.
The interior of the aluminium and wood composite windows complement nature’s feel and make the living space warm and inviting, while the large glazing makes use of natural light and brings a bright and airy feeling to the Corsham property.
In addition to installing timber aluminium composite windows into this sustainable new building Corsham, we also installed glass to glass corner window, Pirnar aluminium front door and sliding doors.
The Internorm studio range is very puristic and is where minimalist design, natural light and luxurious contemporary style meet.
The elegant straight lines and a flush sash outer frame of Studio window systems offers a timeless aesthetic for minimalist living spaces.
The stylish, sleek and flush appearance of Internorm studio windows offer optimum functionality and thermal performance and is a key feature in simplicity and architectural minimalism.
Internorm’s window frames can be completely hidden into the walls to maximise the glass area and give the appearance of a virtually frameless window offering transparency, reflection and an unobstructed view!
Internorm studio windows are available in double or triple glazing, timber/aluminium, uPVC/aluminium and uPVC in an array of profile colours, texture finishes, and a wide range of glass types, handles and sun and insect protection.
Studio windows are a unique design and a preferred choice with architects and property developers for Passivhaus and eco builds, achieving outstanding U-Values up to 0.69 and sound reduction of up to 35 dB. The high performance is more than meets building regulation requirements for a new build property and Part Q to comply with PAS24.
