Timber Flush Casement Windows and Hardwood Front Door, Effingham

Location: Effingham

These delightful cottages date back to the 1700s. Originally built to house those in need, these ‘Almhouses‘ have been upgraded and modernised with new double glazed timber windows and hardwood front doors.

The original single glazed, timber, flush casement windows had been replaced at various times over the years and not always in a sympathetic style, meaning that much of the character and quaintness of the cottages had been lost.

Thames Valley Windows replaced all windows in seven of the cottages with flush casement, double glazed, engineered timber windows. Black outer frames and white casements give the windows a tudor style design, in keeping with the age of the properties and original features. Period style ironmongery with a weathered black finish, complete the look.

We also installed new solid hardwood front doors in various styles. Above we show a cottage style door with arched detail above a glazed section and a second door with a more modern square design.
