Traditional cottage front door was a must for this picturesque character home in the charming rural village of Winkfield, near Windsor.
It had been nine years since we designed and installed black leaded windows into their Windsor home! We were delighted that they chose to return to us when they were looking to purchase a new cottage style front door.
When planning to upgrade the front door to their period property, our Windsor homeowners decided that they would like to maintain the original character and charm of their cottage.
Their existing wooden front door only had one locking system, so they wanted an energy-efficient front door that offered improved security and low maintenance. They were keen to revitalise the dated front door with a modern, secure alternative whilst retaining an air of timeless elegance.
Our clients contacted us via our website, looking for a price for a replacement composite door and frame. Our designer Luke called the Windsor homeowners and arranged an appointment at our Bracknell showroom.
After browsing through our wide range of composite doors on display, Luke talked through all the door designs and security features of a solid 70mm wide profile Apeer Composite front door.
The Apeer 70 is one of the most secure composite front doors on the UK market and features police-approved Secured by Design.
Every front door offers a low u-value of just 0.7 w/m²K achieving an A rating for energy efficiency and is double rebated to allow room for heat expansion and adjustment as well as adding extra draught protection.
The Windsor homeowners were particularly impressed with the array of advanced security benefits, with the ultra-secure anti-pick, anti-bump, anti-drill capabilities and anti-snap cylinder lock barrels and large steel hinge bolts captured their attention.
They decided on a traditional cottage front door (AMD7 Howard) from the Apeer 70 Modo range due to their security features, energy efficiency and low maintenance benefits while retaining an authentic classic appearance.
The entrance door is finished in dual colours in a sophisticated black on the exterior and white on the interior, which makes the hallway nice and bright. An antique black bullring, lever handle and a black hardwood sill complete the look.
One small triple glazed panel with opal glass allows light into the property without comprising privacy or security.
The installation team arrived at the Windsor property in early September and installed the traditional cottage front door within half a day. The team were considerate and respectful to the client to ensure that they limited any mess and cleaned up before leaving to ensure they left our clients entrance to their home spotless.
Secure peace of mind comes naturally with an Apeer 70 front door installation.
The transformation from the out-dated timber door to the new black composite front door is spectacular in both appearance and security and is beautifully in-keeping with their lovely country home.
The robust core of the traditional cottage front door not only offers excellent security to this Windsor property but also improves the thermal performance offering a warm home all year round.
Our Windsor clients are delighted with their new front door and the improved thermal performance and advised that we “turned a draughty wooden front door into a much better exterior door”
They also left us a super review on Trustpilot “Good team, great service despite Covid restrictions, good product”
We take pride in designing and installing durable and high-quality glazing products to all of our customers’ homes, and our client advised that the decision to choose Thames Valley Windows was “they had used TVW 10 years ago and impressed with the service and price !”
This stunning black traditional cottage front door has certainly enhanced the overall house exterior of the property and increasing kerb appeal of this Windsor home.
Apeer 70 composite doors are available in a range of designs from traditional front doors to stable doors and are a popular choice for barn conversions and period properties.
