Traditional Pink Front Door Revives Semi-Detached Victorian Cottage, Epsom

Location: Epsom, Surrey

This beautiful traditional pink front door with a gold bumble bee knocker adds distinctive character and charm to this semi-detached Victorian cottage in Epsom, Surrey.

This distinctive semi-detached Victorian cottage enjoys a peaceful, semi-rural feel. It is on a popular residential road in Epsom’s Stamford Green conservation area.

The Epsom homeowners purchased the Victorian semi-detached cottage at the end of 2023 and were keen to replace the grey front door, which offered little energy efficiency or security.

Our designer, George, contacted the homeowners and listened to their requirements. Part of their brief was for a low-maintenance, secure, high-performance entrance door that would retain its welcoming period appeal.

He recommended they make an appointment to view our range of uPVC, Composite, timber, and aluminium front doors on display in our Bracknell showroom.

After viewing our wide range of front doors on display, George talked through all the door designs and features of the police-approved Secured by Design Apeer 70 front doors that offer an A rating for energy efficiency, achieving a low u-value of just 0.7 w/m²K and are a highly secure composite front door on the UK market.

The solid 70mm wide composite front door, double rebated, provides excellent security, acoustic, and weather performance. It also allows room for adjustment and heat expansion, adding extra draught protection.

The Epsom homeowners felt they were in safe hands with our designer, George, who was knowledgeable about Apeer Composite’s front doors. He worked closely with them to ensure that their vision for this beautiful pink front door was designed and installed exactly to their specification.

The Epsom homeowners were drawn to the cottage-style panelling of the Hanwell door design from the Apeer 70 traditional collection, which combines contemporary and country design elements with a minimalist appeal. However, they were undecided on colour.

The homeowners loved pink and were keen to incorporate the shade into the entrance of their new home. It was clear that the homeowners’ personality was part of the final aesthetic.

After considering their options, they decided on the Hanwell door, which is finished in a dual colour: orchid pink on the exterior and white on the interior.

They selected a clean, crisp white door frame and triple-glazed Minster backing glass for the small window and top light, which provides privacy and light while enhancing the door’s vintage aesthetic.

To finish the pink front door, a touch of gold door furniture, in the form of a bumble bee knocker, letter plate, and handle, was added for extra luxe. This adds a refined finish, complementing the Victorian design.

Every Apeer 70 composite front door is meticulously crafted with state-of-the-art machinery in their Ballymena factory in Northern Ireland. Apeer is a leading UK supplier of A++ energy-rated, highly secure composite doors. With over 20 years of experience, they emphasise high quality, exceptional craftsmanship and intricate details, such as an authentic wood grain finish that emulates the appearance of timber.

Apeer has designed a beautiful range of pink doors in various shades of pink, from antique pink to heather violet pink and everything in between.

The pink front door is an eye-catcher to passers-by and truly stands out in the semi-rural Epsom village. It combines authentic 1930s style, functional beauty, and a light-filled, welcoming entrance with kerb appeal. It gives this traditional cottage a warm, vintage feel and is designed to open inwards easily. The smooth-operating multi-locking system and gold butt hinge ensure the homeowner’s safety and security.

This delicate pink hue contrasts with the white rendering and sliding sash windows, creating a soft, neutral aesthetic.

Pink composite doors are a growing trend with homeowners and architects for traditional and contemporary properties.

The soft hue adds timeless elegance with a touch of modern vibrancy. But pink is more than just a design choice. The colour carries symbolism and psychological impact.

Pink traditionally represents playfulness and generosity. It’s a colour often associated with romance and passion, creating a welcoming and warm entrance.
