Victorian Front Door with Top Light for Period Home, Ascot

We recently installed a Victorian front door at a delightful semi-detached period property that dates back to 1882 superbly located on one of the area’s most desirable roads on the outskirts of Ascot.

The Ascot homeowners advised of the reason they came to us for a replacement front door: “We a chose TVW due to being personal friends of the company but also knowing the professional attitude and quality of the products they give to their customers.”

Following a visit to our Bracknell showroom our clients met with our designer Chris, who had no hesitation in showing them the excellent range of uPVC, wood, aluminium and composite front doors we have on display. They were spoilt for choice!

The brief from the Ascot homeowners was they wanted to retain the character of their period house with a traditional Victorian style front door that would blend sympathetically but also enhance the entrance to their property.

The door had to be high quality, with the reminiscent appearance of an original timber door, whilst improving thermal efficiency and security of their Victorian home.

After discussing all the options and customisation available, our Ascot clients decided on the Lavenham style uPVC front door from the Ultimate Heritage Collection.

The Victorian front door has been customised to their requirements, designed with the traditional six panels and deep 175 mm feature mid-rail to replicate a timber front door.

Beautifully finished in a subtle heritage colour “Balmoral” with a wood grain finish on the outside to provide a more authentic feel and to complete the overall grand appearance. Internally, they opted for white wood grain finish for a fresh feel to the interior.

The top light glazing is sandblasted with etched house number and while offers privacy allows natural light to flood into the entrance hall to keep the space bright and light.

To complete the look, stylish chrome door furniture was chosen, a letterbox, traditional bull ring knocker and dome door handle are all functional and aesthetically pleasing.

The installation team arrived at the Sunningdale property in February the took a day to fit the new Victorian front door. The fitters were careful not to cause any damage to the internal decoration and the external brickwork and cleared up any mess to leave the entrance spotlessly clean before leaving.
