Blog: Try Before You Buy Your New Windows – Yes, Really!

There’s no doubt that investing in new windows, doors or glazed extension is a bit of a daunting prospect. It can be overwhelming – especially in this time of information-overload that we live in.

The research stage is probably the most fun. Who doesn’t love watching the likes of Kevin McCloud and George Clarke. Their passion and enthusiasm is enough to make you want to run out and buy the nearest run down old shed and turn it in to something spectacular!

Then of course there’s the glossy home magazines such as House Beautiful, Ideal Home, Kitchens, Bedrooms & Bathrooms and Build It, to name a few. Pinterest allows you to create an online scrap book of ideas and before you know it, you’re pinning pictures from all over the web.

Eventually, it’s time to take the plunge and discuss your ideas with the experts. Are they realistic? Will you need planning permission? Can you afford it? How long will it take? Colours, materials, style, designs…who knew there were so many decisions to make! What if you get it wrong? What if the Sales person doesn’t have your best interests at heart and is just looking for a quick sale?

Your Architect, if you have one, will certainly produce drawings and these can be very helpful, but they sometimes lack the wow factor.
