This beautiful Victorian property in Clapham has recently been fitted with double glazed sash windows throughout the entire house, and aluminium bifold doors to the front bedroom supplied and installed to the highest specification with outstanding attention to detail, designed to appreciate the London views.

Our Clapham homeowner is a returning customer who we had previously worked with for the supply and installation of replacement sash windows on another London property in 2017. They were looking to replace the original wooden single glazed sash windows on their terraced home that is situated within a conservation area on prestige road moments from the beautiful green open spaces of Clapham Common.

The property has many traditional period features intact. Still, the existing Victorian windows presented many problems for the homeowners, and the window frames were deteriorating and poor energy efficiency, which caused unpleasant drafts and heat loss through the windows.

However, part of the brief was to replicate the look of the original wooden sash windows to maintain a rich and historic appearance whilst improving security and thermal efficiency.

The initial conversation was held with our Clapham customer to discuss product requirements, taking into account budget, design, quality, specification, performance, and installation. Our highly experienced senior design manager Paul Mills made an appointment to visit the property. Once the installation survey was completed, the order was put into production. A fitting scheduled was co-ordinated with the scaffolding company and the homeowner to ensure minimum disruption.

The smooth installation by our fitters took six days this also included removing the existing interior liners and architraves and then reinstating with new. Our Clapham homeowners much appreciated this for their tidy work and attention to detail.

The three modern double glazed sash windows placed next to each on both floors at the front of the property allow for natural light to flood each room, creating a bright, light and airy space.

They are a vast improvement over the historic timber sash windows and doors, as we ensured the traditional glazing bar pattern flowed equally across all the top panes.

We also replaced original French doors in the front bedroom with aluminium SL60e Bi-fold doors and a fixed light above designed with Georgian bars to retain the style and elegance of the original. A superb feature of how traditional and modern can balance perfectly when designed correctly.

The bedroom is now filled with an abundance of light from large double glazed sash windows and doors. The Solarlux Bifold doors perfect focal point for the room and lead out on to the balcony.

The Clapham property has had a significant upgrade in the quality of modern living, the new uPVC sash windows have drastically reduced the sound from traffic as well as draught-proofing this has made the property much warmer inside!
