Our client in Windlesham was one of our very first customers! They had replacement windows fitted by us in 1985! At the time, they had a Victorian style conservatory built with a polycarbonate roof (see the ‘before’ pictures in our gallery above). We replaced the roof with a glass roof in 1994.
We were called back in 2016 to see what ideas we could come up with to extend and upgrade their conservatory living space. It was their favourite room in the house but needed to be bigger, warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Our designer discussed various options and a traditional style Livin Room Orangery with floor-to-ceiling windows was the design that suited the property the most.
A Livin Room Orangery has the look of an Orangery but does not have a flat roof meaning that it is quicker to build and more competitively priced. Polypipe water under floor heating was installed to ensure that the large open plan space stayed warm through the colder months.
The double glazed windows are Antique Rustique in smooth white uPVC with flush casement. They are finished with satin lever handles and hardwood cills on the exterior.
The roof lantern is finished in white on the inside to match the window and door frames, and dark grey on the exterior. The glass is neutral self-cleaning glass, perfect for roofs where the rain simply washes any dirt away.
Our client said, “Since the installation we have been extremely happy with the build. We were concerned that the underfloor heating would be insufficient for the size of the room but this has been proved wrong. We are looking forward to the summer when we can enjoy the outside too. The room is light, airy and welcoming – the positive comments received from friends and family have been numerous and it causes quite a Wow factor when people walk in.”
