Location: Ringwood, Hampshire
We recently installed white Georgian mock sash windows at a beautiful period thatched cottage in Ringwood, Hampshire.
This lovely cottage is situated in a conservation area on the edge of the New Forest in the historic market town of Ringwood.
The Ringwood homeowners of this beautiful traditional thatched cottage wanted to improve their family home’s overall energy efficiency and security by replacing the old wooden traditional sash windows with double-glazed timber-effect or timber sash windows.
Part of the homeowners’ brief was that, as part of the listed building exemption, they had to keep the front windows in keeping with the property’s age. They were also looking for a glazing solution with low maintenance and long-lasting quality.
So, achieving a traditional, authentic timber look was essential to maintain the existing aesthetic of this traditional thatched cottage.
Our architectural project designer, Liam, contacted the homeowners to discuss their window replacement project and arrange a site visit to the property.
With Liam’s glazing knowledge, experience, and attention to detail, and after visiting the property in Ringwood, he recommended the high-performance Halo Flush mock sash windows with Georgian bars to give the appearance of an authentic traditional sliding sash window. This would be the ideal system to replace the existing wooden windows.
The homeowners requested an appointment to visit our Bracknell showroom to view our Halo Flush windows. At the appointment, Liam collaborated closely with the homeowners, sharing sash window design ideas and exploring various finish options.
Liam designed the mock sash windows with concealed trickle vents. These maintain the heritage appearance while complying with ventilation requirements.
The homeowners opted for a white woodgrain finish inside and out, with timber-look joints and elegant black wrought iron handles to complete the period look.
Halo Flush uPVC windows have minimalist designs with slim sightlines and are expertly crafted to replicate traditional mortise and tenon joints for a traditional timber window look. They ensure a seamless, heritage appearance with no visible diagonal welds or joints. Their authentic timber-look appearance makes them a cost-effective and ideal choice for properties in conservation areas, Heritage projects, and renovations.
All the Halo Flush windows are flawlessly manufactured with traditional techniques and state-of-the-art machinery. They are constructed with exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship in the UK, keeping your carbon footprint minimal.
Beyond their visual appeal, Halo flush mock sash windows are built for durability and boast exceptional quality that enhances any aesthetic charm. They feature high-performance glazing to offer superior insulation, low maintenance, and long-lasting structural integrity, ensuring a perfect balance of heritage design and modern efficiency.
Designed to perfection with meticulous detail, they offer a bespoke, harmonious glazing solution that retains many deco characteristics, such as moulding profiles, glazing bar styles, and sash horn details reminiscent of their era.
The traditional thatched cottage has benefited from a stunning makeover that perfectly balances heritage design with modern technology, security, and energy efficiency.
The mock sash windows do not have a movable panel, so they do not slide vertically. They are top-hung and hinged at the sides, designed to allow the top sash to be opened outwards. The bottom sash is a fixed pane.
The White Georgian mock sash windows have been manufactured with traditional mouldings and Georgian glazing bars to preserve the period charm of the thatched cottage while enhancing modern performance.
This Ringwood replacement window project comprises eleven new mock sash windows and one casement window for the downstairs WC.
Halo Flush mock sash windows are an affordable alternative to the cost of traditional timber mock sash windows.
We are committed to achieving exceptional results, as demonstrated by our repeat business, positive testimonials, and over 550 Trustpilot reviews.
